Christopher Moulder
Team Position: Producer
Why I'm Going:
My class will graduate from GA Tech in 4 weeks. Understanding they are graduating into a very tough job market, I am attempting to give them some sort of advantage and add as much momentum and inspiration to their immediate future in the real world. Milan design week is a gathering of artists, designers and manufacturers from around the globe. It is the forefront of experimentation, research and talent. The saturation of Milan can be compared perhaps to Atlanta during the Olympics, yet more condensed.
When I was in Milan 12 years ago, I had the opportunity to meet Marcel Wanders, Ingo Maurer, Tom Dixon and Ayala Serfaty many who at the time, were not yet the rock stars they are today. My hope is for my class to meet these and other present design icons and to meet persons who will become the design icons in the next decade. I expect my students to have multiple epiphanies throughout the week and glean many options open to them not yet realized.
Why I Design:
I did not choose design, design chose me. I cannot prevent my present ideas and projects from slapping the back of my eyelids at 3:00 in the morning and waking me. I suppose I design for the same reason I breathe.
What Do I Do:
I own a company which designs and manufactures a line of lighting fixtures and one of a kind large scale artworks that invariably all work with light as a medium.
